In a novel approach to engaging the public with microbiology,
Dr Anthony Hilton (Aston University) took his mobile laboratory to the streets to reveal the hidden world of microbes in a Grime Scene Investigation.  In this lecture, Dr Hilton discusses the behind the scenes action and the bugs and beasties lurking in our homes.

In the brain, nerve cells communicate with each other and with the rest of the body using a combination of chemical and electrical signals.  Professor Mathie will describe some of the basic feature of how nerve cells do this and why it is vial in allowing us to function as humans.
